What is Giftly Groups?
Giftly Groups is a tool for managing group gifts. Whether it be a birthday present, wedding gift, housewarming gift, or you just feel like being nice.
How it Works
If you have a group of friends who regularly get to together and organise gifts for each other's birthdays, you have the option of creating a group where we will monitor birthdays and set up a gift when a member of the group's birthday is approaching.
If you would like to organise a once off gift or have not yet got your group going, you are able to create a once off gift where you can get up and running quickly, with the ability to invite whoever you want
How Do The Gifts Work
- The captain of a gift is the person taking ownership of the gift and will ultimately be the one meaking the final decisions and collecting the money.
- When you create a once off gift you will be autoomatically set as the gift captain, where you will receive a link which you can use to invite contributors to the gift.
- When a birthday gift is automatically created for your group, someone in the group will need to elect themselves as captain.
- As gift captain you have the option of providing your bank details to the members in the gift, or considering you are all friends it is quite likely that everyone has your bank details already. In this case you can advise the members of the gift to contact you for details.
- Once a gift is created you can navigate to the gift here
- Everyone that is part of the gift will have the opportunity to make suggestions on what to get, as well as vote for their favourite suggestion.
- The outcome of the vote does not dictate the final gift, it is to give the gift captain an idea of what to go for, The captain still makes the final decision.

Participation in Gifts
- On the gift's page you will see the option to record your participation status. This can be updated before any payment or amounts have been decided on and is to let the captain know how many contributors to expect.
- Here you can also enter in the amount you plan on contributing, once again this can be done before you make payment, and is used to keep a record of how much each person plans to contribute.
- Once you have made payment to the Captain, you can let them know by clicking on the Notify of Payment button
- This will let the captain know that you have made payment and they will have the opportunity to confirm that they have received the payment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can everyone in the group see my contribution and whether I am contributing?
No they cannot, this is only visible to the captain and is just meant for the captain to get an overview
of what is happening, as well as to help in confirming they have received your payment.
What is the difference between pledged amount and confirmed amount?
The Pledged amount which you will see on the gift page is the sum of the total contributions that have
not yet been confirmed.
The Confirmed amount is the sum of the total payments confirmed by the captain.
Do I need to create a new group everytime there is a new gift? No you do not. You should only be part of one group per group of friends, and if you would like to gift someone who is not yet in the group you can Create a Once Off Gift.
